Born in Nevada City, CA (1996) Unceded Nisenan Territory.

Deerstine Suehead is an artist of Nisenan, Maidu and Seneca heritage. She is named Deerstine in honor of her great-great grandmother, Dearstine Starkey. She is a self taught painter, seamstress & traditional tattoo practitioner. 

Her art is influenced by her connection to her culture and the cycle of life. Deerstine hopes to help give a voice to ancestral stories and finds great catharsis in the painting process.
